SUMMARY:Tengu & Agura: For Floor and Flight Workshop by Haag (NL) & JenniNoon (UK)
DESCRIPTION:What is this event?\nThis weekend is focused on Haag ( https://www.instagram.com/haag_ellipsis )’s approach to harness construction and adaptability. We will explore a variety of harnesses but will mainly focus on his versions of the Tengu (“winged” chest harness) and Agura (cross-legged harness). As a rigger you’ll learn how to build them, load them safely, and adapt them to different bodies and positions. As a model you will learn how to better engage with and in these harnesses and gain a better understanding which adaptations work better for your body.\nThe workshop exercises range from floor-work to partial and full suspension, depending on your level.\nTopics covered over the weekend:\nTengu & Agura: origins and function\nExplore where the names of these shapes come from, how different schools have approached them, and why Haag’s versions are designed for versatility, stability and transitions.\nCommunication, expectations & risk\nEffective rope work relies on clear communication. The workshop examines personal risk profiles, preferences, negotiation styles, and tools to stay connected and safe. Expect practical examples, reflection, and shared insights.\nBodies, movement & mechanics\nUnderstanding how the body works supports safer, more confident tying. Topics include nerves, blood flow, alignment, pressure, and how to adapt the rope to the person rather than forcing the person into the pattern.\nStructure, logic & application\nBeyond memorising patterns, the focus is on the why and how. Participants learn to understand structural function, make informed adjustments, and build confidence through repetition and awareness, transforming tying into a skill rather than a sequence.\nExpect a rich, hands-on weekend filled with information, practice, feedback and space for questions.\n🇬🇧 This event will be held only in English.\n🔥We welcome riggers and models from the Romanian (Bucharest & other cities) community and international participants! 🔥\nTo attend this event, it is mandatory that you have attended a Consent Workshop.\nWho teaches at this event?\nHaag ( https://www.instagram.com/haag_ellipsis ) (he/they) is a professional rope bondage teacher and runs the Ellipsis Rope Events Foundation based in Rotterdam (NL). He has hosted rope events ranging from international workshops, to performances, demonstrations and rope jams since 2013. Haag ( https://fetlife.com/users/1709774 ) is passionate about photography, community work and teaching. His tying style is focused on safety, knowledge/experience-based improvisation, high paced tying, dynamic movement, and creativity. He has a very technical approach to rope which is complemented by his dance background, psychology studies and various hobbies that incorporate fine motor skills.\nBefore anything else, Jenni Noon ( https://www.instagram.com/the_dark_side_of_the_noon?igsh=MTBvdGl5MXZodnlqMw== ) is a dancer. She loves exploring movement practices, from contemporary dance, contact improvisation, tang and zouk, to clowning, mime, butoh and yoga. This mix of experience gives her an interesting perspective on movement and connection, which she also brings to her shibari practice.\nJenni Noon started exploring shibari as a bottom in 2021. She enjoys many styles, but her highest value is connection. Her experience in rope has primarily been led by the relationships she’s formed with other shibari lovers over time.\nJenni Noon lives in London, where she mainly works as a yoga teacher and economist.\nWhat happens at the event?\nSchedule with breaks that applies for both days:\n10:30-11:00 – Doors open for entrance of the participants\n11:00-14:00 – Introductions & first half of content\n14:00-15:30 – Lunch break\n15:30-18:00 – Second half of content\nPlease note that the workshop will include additional shorter breaks, that will be agreed upon with the participants during the event.\nPlease be on time so as not to disturb other participants. We cannot guarantee that someone will be available to open the door for you after closing time. We only accept on-time admissions to any events since you might miss important information.\nWho can come?\nThis workshop is designed for couples/partners (rigger + model) who have experience tying together as a pair, and who also have experience with chest and lower body harnesses. It is aimed at those who want to deepen their understanding of structure, function and application. It is a multi-level workshop, with options for floor-work, partial suspension, and full suspension depending on your experience.\nSwitching between partners is allowed between exercises, as long as both people meet the full requirements. Switching during an exercise is only possible if the instructors specify it.\nEveryone will work within their level:\n🪢 beginners to up-lines → floorwork and loading a single line🪢 some up-line experience → partial suspensions🪢 suspension experience → full suspensions\nSafety and learning come first: use of up-lines will be adjusted to each pair, based on the instructors’ observations. The aim is to stay within, and just next to your skill level.\nList of prerequisites (r – rigger; m – model):\n– Ability to communicate limits and wishes to your partner (r/m).\n– Experience with tying/being tied in various structures that cover the upper and lower body (r/m).\n– Fluent execution of a sustainable single column tie (r).\n– Fluent execution of a sustainable double column tie (r).\n– Understand and be able to communicate in basic English (r/m).\n– Basic understanding of physical signals that indicate nerve compression and blood flow issues (r/m).\n– Basic understanding of various frictions, rope tension and general rope handling skills. (r)\n– Have attended rope workshops or private tuitions from an experienced teacher before (r)\n– Able to take clear and accurate notes in order to keep track of (or experienced enough to be able to keep in memory) three-rope structures (r)\n– Being able to sit comfortably in a crossed-legged position for an extended period of time (google: Easy Pose/ Sukhasana) (m)\n– Able to be tied in a futomomo and able to fold the leg to a position where the heel is within 10cm of the upper leg/ buttocks (m)\nExpect plenty of guidance, encouragement, and a strong focus on safe, responsible practice.\n🌈 All bodies, genders, and orientations are warmly welcome.\n🎫 Fill in the form below to register for this workshop. You will receive an email confirmation, and we will keep you updated with information about the event.\nWe reserve the right to select event participants.\nWorkshop participation fee\n➜  ticket – 500 RON / 100€ per couple of rigger & model for the full 2-days workshop (switching is allowed between exercises, provided both partners meet the full requirements; switching during an exercise is only possible if the instructors approve it.)\nThe tickets are available only per couple of rigger and model. There are no tickets available per person.\nIn order to secure your place for this workshop, you need to pay a 100 RON advance of the event fee. You will receive more details on how you can secure your place in the RSVP confirmation email.\nWhat are you bringing? What are you wearing?\n📤 Please bring your InFLUX card! The event requires that you have attended the Consent Workshop. We will check at the entrance if you have attended it.\nRequired equipment for (r)igger and/or (m)odel:\n– Eight to ten lengths (depending on your current skill level) of natural fibre rope\n– A suspension ring or set of carabiners (4+)\n– A rescue hook or EMT shears\n– (optional) A sling to adjust the height of your hard-point\n– models are advised not to wear slippery clothes that cover the legs and upper body; a pantyhose, for example, will not facilitate friction of the rope on one’s skin and could easily cause unwanted displacements of ropes under tension.\n– (optional) warm clothing or a blanket for after or between ties (m)\n– (optional) pen and paper to take notes (please note that typing-noises on laptops can be very distracting while we are explaining content and thus is not allowed during tuition) (r/m)\nThe Workshop will be quite intensive. We recommend you come rested. You are only allowed to take pictures of your work and your partner (with consent). Taking pictures of (any part) of other people is NOT allowed. Please do not use flash photography since this can be very distracting for others. Video or audio recordings are not allowed. \nHow can you reach us?\nOur address is Bulevardul Theodor Pallady 287. You can find information on how to reach us here or here.\nThe area has many parking spaces, especially in the evening or after 6 pm. The metro station at “1 Decembrie 1918” is the closest to us and it’s only 8 minutes away, on foot.\nTake the small elevator (it’s behind the large stairs on the ground floor) to the 5th floor, where you will see the sign for InFLUX. One more flight of stairs up, and you’re there. If mobility issues prevent you from climbing up a flight of stairs, you can take the large elevator, which will take you straight to our door, but that one is much slower.\nOur phone number is +40723258105 ( https://wa.me/40723258105 ), and you can write to us on WhatsApp ( https://wa.me/40723258105 ) before the door-closing time.\nInFLUX Rules\nPlease read our rules carefully before attending our events.\n \nLoading…\n
