Life Drawing Workshop – Behind the Mask

Life Drawing Workshop – Behind the Mask

What is this event?

Think of this as a little adventure in curiosity and creativity: we gather together, pencils, pens, or tablets in hand, to sketch the living, breathing beauty of a real person posing just for us. Our model will hold still for a while, and we’ll explore what our eyes catch and our hands translate onto paper, or screens, or whichever tools you love most.

Everyone is welcome here! Whether you’re a beginner, a doodler, or someone who’s been sketching for years. Bring your curiosity, your favorite tools, and the joy of experimenting.

To keep the magic flowing and to make sure everyone feels safe, comfortable, and respected, we’ve added a few gentle guidelines just for this workshop. They’re here to protect both the model and the participants, so that we can all relax into the joy of drawing, exploring, and being together. Please take a moment to read them, and let’s make this space one of kindness and play.

For the safety of the models

➜ We will not make explicit comments about the bodies of our models. That is, we avoid saying “Oh, how nice you look in that coat”, “Oh, how nice your back looks in this light”.
➜ We will not touch the models or their objects without consent.
➜ We don’t get upset or criticise the models if they move, sneeze, or scratch themselves. We are humans with human needs.
➜ We respect the models decisions to sit in a certain position for longer or shorter amounts of time, depending on their comfort.

For the safety of the participants

Respect personal space. Enjoy your own process and do not touch other participants’ belongings.
Feedback only by request. If someone wants your opinion, they will ask. Otherwise, we simply enjoy drawing in our own way.
Inspire, don’t compare. You can look around for inspiration, but avoid commenting on or criticising someone else’s work.

The Life Drawing Workshop is a space where we’re going to be a bit vulnerable. When we participate in the event, we choose to support our own curiosity and that of the other participants.

🇷🇴 Event in Romanian but curiosity is the only language you really need.

📝 We confirm attendance 24 hours before the start of the event at the latest. Please register at least one day before the start of the event.

How does this event work?

For this session, our model will embody the whimsical and theatrical world of the clown, stripped of costumes, stripped of masks, and fully revealed in their raw, human form. The clown is often seen as laughter and mischief, but also as vulnerability and truth. Through nudity, we invite you to explore the tension between play and honesty, comedy and intimacy, exaggeration and simplicity. Let your lines wander between humor and tenderness, and see what emerges when the mask comes off.

How can you reach us?

Our address is Boulevard Theodor Pallady 287.

You can find information on how to reach us here or here.

The area has many parking spaces, especially in the evening or after 6 pm. The metro station at “1 Decembrie 1918” is the closest to us and it’s only 8 minutes away, on foot.

Take the small elevator (it’s behind the large stairs on the ground floor) to the 5th floor, where you will see the sign for InFLUX. One more flight of stairs up, and you’re there. If mobility issues prevent you from climbing up a flight of stairs, you can take the large elevator, which will take you straight to our door, but that one is much slower.

Our phone number is +40723258105 and you can write to us on WhatsApp before the door closing time.

Who can come?

🎉 Anyone and everyone!
Whether you’ve never held a pencil in your life or you’ve got sketchbooks stacked to the ceiling, you’re welcome here. The Life Drawing Workshop at InFLUX is all about curiosity, play, and exploration, not perfection.

We’re building a safe, welcoming, and queer-friendly space where you can relax, experiment, and maybe surprise yourself with what ends up on the page. So bring your curiosity, your favorite tools (or none at all), and come draw with us.

🎫 Fill in the form below to register for this workshop. You will receive an email confirmation, and we will keep you updated with information about the event. You will also receive an email reminder close to the event so you don’t miss it.

We reserve the right to select event participants.

What are you bringing?

📤 Please bring your ID card with you so we can check your age at the door. We keep none of your data, but we need to make sure that everyone is an adult. You can see here or here how we check your ID so that all your data but your year of birth and picture are visible to us.

Bring along whatever you love to draw with: your trusted pencil, a sketchbook, a fancy tablet, or even something you’ve never tried before. This is your playground for creativity, so whether you’re a seasoned artist or just curious, all tools are welcome.

If you’re just starting out, the friendliest combo is a simple HB pencil and a blank A4 sheet. But why stop there? Colored pencils, brush pens, ink, watercolors, acrylics. Anything that lets your imagination flow is perfect.

And don’t worry if you come empty-handed: InFLUX is stocked with all sorts of goodies to experiment with. You’ll find free materials waiting for you, ready to spark your curiosity and maybe even help you discover a new favorite way to draw.

What are you wearing?

This event has no dress code, so wear whatever makes you comfortable.

Who organises this event?

Theo studied art and architecture, this allowing her to explore the intricate relationship between form, function and emotion. Coming from a family of professional artists, she was always interested in painting and drawing. As a painter, she likes capturing portraits and people. Her work aims to surprise and evoke genuine emotions, through each painting stroke striving to convey the complexity of the human spirit, inviting viewers to connect with the raw authenticity of their own emotions.
