This month, we talk about ambiamory

Have you ever felt trapped between the pressure of the monogamous script on the one hand and all the expectations and demands that a poly relationship style implies? Have you felt you were failing at both monogamy and non-monogamy? Does a definitive commitment to one relationship style or the other seem hazardous and unrealistic? In case you didn’t know, there’s a term that may help you: ambiamory.

At this event, we will discuss ambiamory, a term that typically refers to individuals who enjoy both monoamory as well as polyamory. Ambiamorous people generally have little or no preference between either one. They may express feelings towards only one partner or multiple partners at the same time.

Folks who are ambiamorous may like dating one individual and be perfectly capable to form a monogamous/monoamorous relationship. They may also enjoy dating multiple people and practice polygamous/polyamorous relationships with other partners.

The term is also a pretext to revisit the classic debate on what polyamory is – an identity, a relationship orientation or a preference?

What is this event? 

Poly Monthly is an event dedicated to all those interested in alternative relationship styles (open relationships, swingers, polyamorists, relationship anarchists). We meet once a month to discuss a given topic. Participants’ contributions are essential and give shape to these meetings, so we encourage you to propose topics that you find interesting, that you think you could learn from, that you have dealt with, or topics where you think you might have a useful experience to share.

The Consent Workshop is not required for participation in this event.

This event will be held in Romanian.

📝 We confirm attendance 24 hours before the start of the event at the latest. Please register at least one day before the start of the event.

🪪 Please bring your ID card with you so we can check your age at the door. We keep none of your data, but we need to make sure that everyone is an adult. You can see here how we check your ID so that all your data but your year of birth and picture are visible to us.

Please be on time so as not to disturb other participants. We cannot guarantee that someone will be available to open the door for you after closing time. We only accept on-time admissions to any events since you might miss important information.

The area has many parking spaces, especially in the evening or after 6 pm. The metro station at “1 Decembrie 1918” is the closest to us and it’s only 8 minutes away, on foot.

Take the small elevator (it’s behind the large stairs on the ground floor) to the 5th floor, where you will see the sign for InFLUX. One more flight of stairs up, and you’re there. If mobility issues prevent you from climbing up a flight of stairs, you can take the large elevator, which will take you straight to our door, but that one is much slower.

Anyone is welcome to attend our event if they are interested in alternative relationship styles or simply curious to discuss and listen to different perspectives on the multitude of relationship forms.

George and Kitty are not experts. They are just two non-monogamous people from the community who wanted to make this space for discussion because they were curious to learn, discover, and share their own experiences.
